It’s the spring of 1979. A group of six PSU students — Tom Brewer, Randy Rabe, Greg Shook, Steve Vuylsteke, Andy Bilotti and Brad Rabe — stands in front of the old science building in a small circle. Hopping from foot to foot, they pass a new novelty toy back and forth with their feet and knees: a leather beanbag called a Hacky Sack.

The Pacific Northwest’s premier holiday basketball invitational, drawing elite high school teams from across the nation, is returning to downtown Portland for its 28th iteration.

The Les Schwab Invitational will be held Dec. 26-30 in PSU's Viking Pavilion.

The Inquiry for Justice program, now in its third year, serves as a running start for historically excluded students in the Portland area to begin to do college-level work. 32 students from Multnomah County participated this summer and learned about justice through place-based learning at sites including the Black Futures Farm.
